Masquerading as McCartney for six years in the Broadway musical Beatlemania as well as myriad other Beatle-centric productions, actor and singer Tony Kishman graces eardrums with McCartney’s most famous Beatles-era ditties and a smattering of the superstar’s solo works. Backed by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and a three-piece touring band, Kishman belts out Beatles hits “Hey Jude,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band,” and “Penny Lane.” Ears are inspired to run for president of the facial features after power ballads such as “Maybe I’m Amazed” and sway to the wistful melodies of “The Long and Winding Road” and “Let it Be.” Conducted by resident conductor Richard Lee, the backing symphony propels the McCartney soundtrack to new heights like a game of frisbee played with platinum-selling albums.
