$88 for a Six-Week Outdoor Boot Camp ($244.50 Value)
After clients enlist, a personal trainer contacts them to set up a one-on-one meeting. They’ll run a matrix of assessments on campers, taking measurements for body composition and weight, and assign corresponding stretch and aerobic exercises for off days. Boot camps meet for 60 minutes three times a week, spanning six weeks. Classes are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
When not in the gym, Advantage Conditioning’s co-owner, Marty Shumka, acts as a health consultant to corporations, hosts a weekly exercise show on Shaw TV, and makes guest appearances on Breakfast Television. He is sought after for both his knowledge of fitness and exercise trends and his proven success at his own gym.
Leading a team of professional trainers, he and co-founder Lindsay Jurkowski personalize workouts. They travel to clients’ homes or offices for personal sessions or lead small, tight-knit groups of encouraging peers through rigorous boot camps in the studio (which is moving from 1B-2020 Portage Ave. to 1871 Portage Ave.). Exercisers who prefer to go it alone can cycle through Advantage Conditioning’s ample stock of free weights, resistance bands, and strength and cardio machines. The facility also addresses injuries sustained from playing sports or MMA-fighting a rival mascot with athletic-therapy treatments that involve massage and electric muscle stimulation.
