Inside Speedworld’s air-conditioned, 27,500-square-foot facility, sprint karts accelerate racers to speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour. Skilled speed-guides instruct drivers on proper kart operation and then outfit them with full-faced helmets and optional safety glasses. Aluminum race wheels and improperly secured top hats spin as up to 12 karts fly across nearly 0.25 kilometres of track, wrapping around nine challenging turns, including sweepers, S curves, and 90-degree bends. Four-piston caliper disk brakes help drivers navigate hairpin direction changes and avoid collisions with pylons or stacked tire barriers. After the checkered flag falls, drivers can request a printout from the ChronX system, an automatic race monitor that delivers each karter key statistics, such as average speed, lap times, and final race standing. Patrons can also attend “Black Light Glow Racing” every Monday and Tuesday to show off shining carts, clothing, and wind up teeth as they race around the track.
